THE WORK

Like most authors, I develop an outline of how I want a story to progress, but the fact is I never seem to stick to it. When I sit down to write, I become so enveloped in the story that my fingers seem to follow some path that my mind didn’t warn me was coming. So, I have decided to go with it and instead of trying to micromanage my writing with lists and planning, I simply state an event (like ‘the hero saves the day’) and let my imagination play it out while my fingers zip across the keyboard, trying to keep up. Later, I go back and tweak it.
